Getting Traffic
To give life to your website, you must get traffic on a regular basis. A website that does not get visitors is like a dead site which has no use. There are several different ways to get traffic to your website. We will try to discuss as many ways as possible.
The two broad categories that we can divide this section are
Free Traffic:
The main thing we want to do with our website is to rank it on the first page of google, yahoo and bing. These are the main search engines. Google actually gets the most traffic among the three.
So how do you rank highly in search engines?
For getting a high rank in search engines there are two things that you need to do. One is on-page optimization and the other is off-page optimization.
When you start building your site, you should concentrate on the on-page optimization first. You should make sure that the keywords are placed properly on your website. Then you should start the off-page optimization slowly and steadily. The thing is, if your website has useful information then people from different sites will link to you. But if your website sucks and looks useless then you will have a real hard time getting backlinks from quality websites.
That is why you should create a website keeping your visitors in mind. Give them the information they are looking for. Make the people feel that you have a damn good website. In this way your site will be promoted by others and people will start visiting your site often.
Paid Traffic:
As there are many ways of getting free traffic, there are similarly many ways for getting paid traffic. Some of them are
If you have the money then you can get traffic without worrying about the search engines. Even if you have the money, I suggest you to use that money to rank high in search engines. You can spend some money for the advertising, but if you are able to get on first page of google that will get you loads and loads of free traffic. You can decide which option is better for you.
