How to do Keyword Research?

Go to anyone of the above tools and put the keyword for which you want to create a site. Then you will see a list of all the related words that people search for on a daily basis. You will also get a rough estimate of how many people search for the term. Now you should maintain a word or excel file containing all the relevant keywords.

There will be short keywords which consist of two or three or four words. You will also find long tail keywords which will be like short sentences. You should choose the short keywords as your main keywords. There can be 3 or 4 main keywords. You must aim to rank high for these keywords because you will get most of the traffic from these. The long tail keywords are those for which you get less traffic. There are many methods to rank high for the long tail keywords which I discuss in the Getting Traffic page.

Keyword Research Example

Let us see an example of keyword research in the golf field. If you just put golf and make a search you will get the keywords as follows

In Wordtracker free keyword tool
When you see the number of searches for the same keyword in different tools, you will get different types of results. The number of searches is different. The different keyword services use different tools and techniques for getting those numbers, so that is why there is a difference.
